Questions 20-28 )

This was a delight to do, thank you [personal profile] flo_nelja for coming up with the questions, it was fun and made me think!

A meme/challenge by [personal profile] flo_nelja was brought to my attention recently, and since it's a lot of fun questions about F/F shipping I thought I'd take part (consolidated but split up a bit). Here's the original post with the questions

cutting it bc it's likely to be long! )

This was super fun to do! I may do other questions later in the month, but this was great to get some thoughts out in a semi-organized manner.

Anyone who knows me knows I love femslash, so this February should be a cornucopia for me, but to be honest it's a lil overwhelming! I've encountered at least THREE twenty-eight day prompt lists about it (including a dark/problematic "femslash fuckery" list) AND the halfamoon event, which is just female characters in general but pretty ripe for femslash. I really did not plan ahead on this, so sadly will not be posting anything for most days.

I really enjoyed the BNHA wlw week I think because it was only a week long, and I had a long advance notice of the prompts and days. It gave me enough time to plan out and fully draw/color two images for each day, plus to plan out a seven-chapter fanfic that covered each day's prompts. It felt very satisfying to wake up each morning and post my responses to each prompt on several sites, and at the end I felt like a superhuman for doing every single day! AKA It just was a much more manageable amount.

Perhaps I'm being too much of a completionist, I don't think anyone necessarily expects folks to write/draw for every single day of month-long prompt lists, but it still disheartens me to be skipping most days. Also having multiple prompt lists might give some flexibility, but it also kind of staggers me in its broadness (so many options! But which to pick?).

Current plans personally )

Banner for the bnha_fans community showing Miruko, Hawks, Bakugou, Endeavor, Mina, Shigaraki
[community profile] bnha_fans is a community for fans of all things Boku no Hero Academia

If you're a fan of My Hero Academia (as I am) come join the above community! Lots of fans who like to chat. I will certainly be there for more frequent and in-depth discussion on bnha than I usually do on my journal.

Additionally, if you're totally new to DreamWidth, I would rec [personal profile] vriddy's post So you're into BNHA and just created a Dreamwidth account to help get you started.

It was good!!!

I did sort of split The Arcane up a bit, watched half of it last month and then popped back in today and finished it up (you know you have it bad when you're procrastinating on even watching media) but I finished and really enjoyed it! High-key ended on a cliffhanger which makes me scream, but alas.

I won't go into spoilers, but wow the animation!!! They really exemplified the NEW stuff you can do with 3D-animation (and some 2D-animation at times)... It reminded me of the comparisons I saw between Disney trying to remake the Lion King to look like realistic CGI versus something like Into the Spiderverse which still accepts itself as a cartoon and really plays with the medium... there were so many scenes in the Arcane that were just so artistically and technically impressive that I was blown away, I really felt like the animators were given space to innovate and try new things, and it delivered!

The story's definitely on the grim side (especially for me lol) but I thought they did a great job of keeping it somewhat grounded; death happened, but even small deaths were generally treated seriously and with weight. And the girls... LOVED the treatment of women throughout the show. Not as in their literal treatment by other characters, but their treatment by the narrative... so many with interesting histories, relationships to each other, and just genuine attention and character development given by the narrative. Even sexual and/or nude scenes were treated with such respect and like... were clearly character moments. My main fandom right now is My Hero Academia, which is fun but... has the classic trappings of shounen: Women are cute, but they're more likely to be used for fanservice than to have their inner depths ever explored. As a fan I take those blank spaces and fill them in on my own development cookings... but it's very refreshing to get to watch a series where the woman actually come with interesting backstories and are central to the narrative!
