Many femslash february events!
Feb. 4th, 2022 10:33 amAnyone who knows me knows I love femslash, so this February should be a cornucopia for me, but to be honest it's a lil overwhelming! I've encountered at least THREE twenty-eight day prompt lists about it (including a dark/problematic "femslash fuckery" list) AND the halfamoon event, which is just female characters in general but pretty ripe for femslash. I really did not plan ahead on this, so sadly will not be posting anything for most days.
I really enjoyed the BNHA wlw week I think because it was only a week long, and I had a long advance notice of the prompts and days. It gave me enough time to plan out and fully draw/color two images for each day, plus to plan out a seven-chapter fanfic that covered each day's prompts. It felt very satisfying to wake up each morning and post my responses to each prompt on several sites, and at the end I felt like a superhuman for doing every single day! AKA It just was a much more manageable amount.
Perhaps I'm being too much of a completionist, I don't think anyone necessarily expects folks to write/draw for every single day of month-long prompt lists, but it still disheartens me to be skipping most days. Also having multiple prompt lists might give some flexibility, but it also kind of staggers me in its broadness (so many options! But which to pick?).
Anyways, I've settled on just doing an occasional art piece as the urge strikes me. I like writing, but prefer writing multichapters a lot more than oneshots, and currently have multiple WIPs going already, so I'd much rather do some low-commitment one-time sketches than squeeze out a oneshot or try to make a multichapter fit multiple prompts
I've got my eyes on the broad femslash feb tumblr prompts, but more specifically am getting into the Miraculous Ladybug femslash prompts. I think more fandom specific prompt lists are compelling me a bit more! And although I haven't watched much past season 2 of Miraculous Ladybug, I still really like the characters and potential there (Chloe/Marinette is PRIME enemies-to-lovers real estate). So I'll likely post some Miraculous Ladybug fanart on
justajuicyfan on occasion this month (Somehow the Alya/Sabrina prompt for tomorrow grabbed me and dragged me into a four-page angst comic?? Unexpected but a nice way to touch on properly paneled comics after not having done those for several years). I'm considering using some of the broad femslash prompts for bnha or another fandom, but no specific plans yet. Will let inspiration strike and try not to overwhelm myself.

Date: 2022-02-04 09:05 pm (UTC)I get stressed out by deadlines a lot so I've become a lot more chill about taking the "do what I can/what sounds fun" approach lately. Especially because often, it's the difference between "doing a little something" and "not participating at all"... I'm not sure I would enjoy preparing 28 projects even with advance notice, haha, but then again I generally prefer to work on my own ideas rather than prompts (as fun as they can be!!) One-week-long events sound more manageable.
I hope you have a ton of fun with the prompts you do pick up, and best of luck with the comic as well, that sounds like a lot of work and super fun :D

Date: 2022-02-05 02:30 pm (UTC)You're right, it's better to do a little bit than none at all! And ultimately as encouraging and inspiring as prompts and events are.... nothing's stopping me from writing my F/F on my own time. Not gonna lie though, I find trying to get something to fit prompts fun, and the 'deadlines' get me off my butt and actually doing things instead of procrastinating!

Date: 2022-02-05 11:01 am (UTC)God, I almost forgot about Femslash February this year! Thank you for the reminder; I think I'll pick up and polish up a femslash WIP, but we'll see about posting them in time, lol.
I really respect you for making a fill for every day of the BNHA femslash week, though! But I can see how completionism may be quite the barrier for some events, so might I recommend
ladiesbingo? If you would ever want a 'bigger' event, it may be the perfect fit - it's about relationships between women (not femslash per se, but shush), is a 5 x 5 (i.e. a total of 25 prompts) bingo card event (but the smallest is a row of five prompts) and, while it has yearly rounds, it has an amnesty round stretching through a few months too. (As you can see, I've been eyeing it for some time, lol.)
Good luck on that comic, though! And go easy on yourself during femslash February <3

Date: 2022-02-05 02:34 pm (UTC)Thanks for the ladiesbingo rec, I think with everything else going on I don't have the bandwidth to participate, but I've subscribed to the comm to keep an eye on what others post (and to potentially participate next year, or in the amnesty period if I get less busy)
