I promise myself every time I start posting a multichapter that I'm not allowed to start posting another multichapter until the end is in sight for that first one... In theory that should mean "The very last chapters have been written out, all that's left is to post them," but in practice it tends to happen when I have the ending fairly well outlined, but still have some chapters to write.

My current multichapter is (probably) ~6 chapters from the end, updating on a biweeekly schedule, outlined but almost entirely unwritten. It's a messy wild TogaChako (BNHA) porn with plot fic, whose ending is definitely going to be a challenge to write. I think the biweekly pace is manageable for me writing-wise, but I'm getting broadly impatient...

Because OH my heart craves the shiny new multichapter... I've been writing a bunch of explicit porny fics recently, and although that is my most beloved, I'm missing the vibes of teen-rated fics. This one I have in the WIPs has four chapters drafted, so I'm like "I could start posting now..." but I have deep suspicions even with the little buffer it won't stay sustainable while I'm trying to iron out those upcoming chapters for my current active fic. But I'm excited about it and want to start posting it already XD.

The extra dangerous part is I've got a couple other events/projects with deadlines I need to keep an eye on as well, so I need to be mindful of that before I start adding something new to my schedule (BNHA WLW Bang oneshot, BNHA Valkyries week, and beyond writing I'm drawing for those too)... And these danged wrists of mine are itching to force me into a break. I've got my wrist braces, and am trying to use them more when typing, but they can only go so far (perhaps...... I should spend my limited wrist time actually writing the fic instead of this post XD But ohhh the joys of procrastination).

Shouldn't femslash after dark be in that list of deadlines, too? XD Wishing you the best of luck finding the right balance between having fun and not overloading yourself!

I'm having flashbacks to that one multi-chapter fic I wrote that took years before I completed it. And when I finally got near the end, my writing had changed so I had to go back and re-write a lot of the earlier stuff, whoops.

I still tend to write oneshots, but I do have 1 multi-chapter WIP and I'm forcing myself to NOT POST THE THING until I wrap it up completely. (Still trying to decide between posting it in one big update or doing a weekly thing.)

I also try to fully write out a draft before posting 🤝 But I've never written anything longer than 30k words so I don't know if I'll ever be able to finish a longfic XD Good luck with Not Posting The Thing until it's ready!!

For what it's worth, the recommendation is usually to post chapter by chapter regardless, to avoid the fic disappearing from the first page too quickly and give more opportunities to readers to actually see it, but in the end whatever works best for you! Good luck!!

Thank you! I've got one chapter left to write before I do a final quick scroll through it and post. I want to get my zine piece out of the way first, though.

We can do this XD

Either way though, I admire your strength in writing out the WHOLE multichapter before even starting to post

I'm the type of reader who avoids unfinished WIPs because I've found myself more than once subscriber to a story that just never finished. I'm not going to badger the author for updates (who knows what they have going on IRL) but my heart can't take the waiting anymore 😆 I figured I should try and not leave readers hanging either, if I can help it.
