I fucking love Izumi Tsubaki's works. I don't buy a lot of physical manga, but I have her entire first series (The Magic Touch/Oyayubi Kara Romance) and am working on getting all of Oresama Teacher and everything that is out for Monthly Girl's Nozaki-kun as well. So this fic??? Where Sakura Chiyo and Kurosaki Mafuyu have a surprise fateful meeting and fall in love??? I'm like "This is the best I love this." It's so cute, with so many fun cross-over interactions between various members of the casts, the writing and comedy feels in spirit with Izumi Tsubaki's style, and it's just overall super cute! I will admit I am biased because it was written as a gift for me for an Oresama Teacher gift exchange, but if anyone shares any of my loves they should definitely read this! Also includes art!

HatsuMomo is just one of my fave rarepairs, so it's a delight to see a fic where they're costarring and getting some fun thoughts in an engaging way. Made me laugh for sure!

Now hear me out for a second: Velma Dinkley X Irene Adler. I recommend this fic purely because it is a genius cross-fandom pairing that I happened to stumble upon, and have not stopped thinking about since. Two gals, investigative and smart, in a bit of an intellectual cat-and-mouse game. Irene's dominatrix tendencies versus Velma's rather studious persona, but both equals in the minds that intrigue each other. It's dynamic, it's sexy, it's fun.

I've always loved a lesbian reading of Sharpay (she literally just wants Troy for the clout, shows zero legitimate love/interest in him as a person), and Kelsi is a highly underrated character in the franchise... combine them, and you get magic like this. This is honestly so good, when I read it I was blown away. It's grounded, engaging, and really puts Kelsi in the spotlight. I loved the slow development between her and Sharpay, and the general realism of the fic? The fic was written about a year after the COVID-19 pandemic started, and within the fic there's pretty explicit acknowledgement of that? I know fics are meant for escapism a lot of the time, but it was really refreshing to read a fic that let COVID-19 exist but also said: "Even in these 'unprecedented times,' we can still live our lives and have dreams and rom-com plots."

Honest to goodness it's better than canon. And RGU is already pretty fantastic, so that's a tall-order. I can't go too deep into it or I'll be chatting all day but like... It's pretty much an Anthy POV sci-fi retelling of the series and (especially) the movie. Even though it's covering most of canon, the POV and the sci-fi aspect keep it extremely fresh and engaging, and the changes that are made to canon make sense and strengthen it a lot. Aaauhhufhu it's hard to put into words but if you like Revolutionary Girl Utena or if you watched it and were confused the whole time, PLEASE READ THIS it's literally the best rendition I've seen. Currently I'm pretty deeply in the BNHA fandom, so it was fun to come up with some recs outside of that fandom! It was especially fun to pull out the more obscure ones that I feel like I never have the chance to rec anywhere else.
