Lovely day out!
Feb. 12th, 2022 05:41 pmWith the combination of the pandemic, winter, and my workplace going temporarily FULLY remote (previously we went in-person part-time, but after the new year rising cases set up to fully-remote until March), I've been staying inside most days. Plus there was a COVID-19 situation for half of January (my roommate caught it the first week, then I caught it the second week) that had me cooped up in isolation for weeks... If I've seemed particularly active online recently, it's because I've been stuck inside a majority of the time!
I've felt pretty lethargic (and hesitant to go out into the cold winter weather) but today it was over 50 degrees fahrenheit (~10 celsius), and my beloved roommate dragged me out even though I was like "Ahh but I'm lazy and comfy..."
We had breakfast at a nearby bakery and then went shopping through a few thrift stores, and it was a lovely time! Even just taking the subway train, I sat in the carriage, felt the vibrating movement, heard the familiar screaming of the wheels against the track... ahahaha I was overcome with a sense of fondness, it had been awhile since I rode that! Perhaps not since December?
I do go out occasionally for groceries and other chores, but today was a great reminder that I should really push myself outside just for fun when I've been cooped up too long! I'm excited for when the weather warms up properly (today was an anomaly, the rest of the week will be returning to winter temperatures) and it's easier to find outdoor activities, but for now I think I should push myself a little more (and probably exercise more! Just a few hours walking and shopping wore me out, my stamina is not what it used to be).
